GMA Anchor & Breast Cancer Survivor Robin Roberts Has Bone Marrow Disease


Good Morning America anchor Robin Roberts will undergo chemotherapy and a bone marrow transplant, according to Roberts, who made the announcement this morning.

Good Morning America anchor Robin Roberts will undergo chemotherapy and a bone marrow transplant, according to Roberts, who made the announcement this morning.

Robin Roberts was diagnosed with breast cancer 5 years ago and have since fought the disease, triumphing over the deadly disease through radiation therapy to kill the remaining cancer cells.

Robin now has to battle Bone Morrow as she is diagnoised of Myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS) a pre-leukemia blood disease caused by radiation.

The bone marrow transplant will take place later this year, but Roberts will begin chemotherapy immediately. She will be off the show for an undetermined period of time after the bone marrow transplant.

As a strong woman,  Roberts hopes to keep working at GMA full time.

This morning, the first lady of United States-Michelle Obama tweeted to support Robin, saying, ”Barack and I have you in our prayers. We believe in you and thank you for bringing awareness and hope to others. –mo”
