Rapper Curtis ’50 Cent’ Jackson appeared yesterday in court alongside his attorney Scott Leemon and pleaded not guilty to charges that he attacked his ex-girlfriend Daphne Narvarez and trashed her apartment.
The 38-year-old, best known for tracks like In Da Club and appearances in films including Get Rich Or Die Tryin’, could face faces up to five years in jail and a $46,000 (£30,000) fine if convicted.
Jackson destroyed property at Narvarez’s Toluca Lake condominium during an argument on June 23, she told police.
When she locked herself in the bedroom to escape Jackson, he allegedly kicked the door open and kicked her.
Narvarez dated Jackson, with whom she has a child, for three years.
50 Cent must adhere to a criminal protective order that states he must stay at least 100 yards away from Narvarez and was also ordered to turn over any firearms he might own.
He’s due back in court on September 4.
