In a chit chat with Google Music few weeks ago during the promo for his new album, ‘Take Care’, Drake mentioned that Rihanna is the most iconic female out right now, next to Nicki Minaj (his label mate). .. REALLY?
Check out excerpts and video below…
On being consistent and making quality music
I’m not the guy that would ever be able to make surface music with no substance. I think all my projects, hopefully, I’m working through some form of emotion because I think that’s what music is about. It’s about connecting and people being able to relate.
In five years, I like people to view “Take Care” at that point as another point of consistency. Another over delivery on something people thought I was going to drop the ball on. I think every time I say I’m about to do something people are waiting for me to fumble. That’s probably one of the biggest motivations behind a lot my raps is the amount of people that want me to fall or whatever. I think that should be the motivation for most rappers. The further you climb towards the top, the more hands you have on your pants leg dragging you to the bottom. I wear really strong pants.
On collaborating with Rihanna with the title track “Take Care”
I think my goal was something that moves. I really wanted to bring her into our world but still allow her to be herself. I think she really shines bright. She comes from a place that’s so rich in culture, so rich in music, but being what I feel like, the most iconic female period right now—next to Nicki Minaj, of course… [Nicki is] just doing incredible, she’s my favorite person.
On making music for women Kendrick Lamar says something on my album that rings so true. “Women are the tastemakers for the music that we make.” Women buy records and women fall in love with music and listen to it when they fall asleep. It moves them and I have this fascination with getting into the minds of women and truly letting them know how I think as a man and letting them know how I view them as women. That should appeal to men as well.
On his legacy
I want people to really feel like I knew Drake while he was on this Earth. I know everything about him. There were no secrets, there was nothing that he hid, no feelings that he concealed. In five years, hopefully I have a couple more projects out that surpass Take Care, but I would like for them to say I remember that moment when I wasn’t sure what was gonna happen and Drake delivered an album that served a purpose in my life.
It seems Drake it neither clued up nor is he too bothered concerning the recent leak of his current album ‘Take Care’ was leaked. The album’s official release date in the US was in actual fact the 15th of November but several of his tracks have made its on onto the net!
Drake went of Twitter to respond to the leaks:
“I am not sure if the album leaked. But if it did thank god it doesn’t happen a month early anymore.
Listen, enjoy it, buy it if you like it…and take care until next time.”
So if you can’t beat them join ‘em. Check out a couple of the two of the leaked tracks currently out there.
‘Take Care’ ft Rihanna & ‘Crew Love’ ft The Weekend. What is not to love about this tracks. I was expecting the same signature lazy raps rhymes from Drake but dude has switched it up a little!
Former Pussychat Doll singer and X-Factor judge Nicole Scherzinger is rumoured to be kicking the boots hard with Drake after days of breaking up with her long term boyfriend and Formula One champion Lewis Hamilton…
Nicole Scherzinger and Drake were spotted entering the popular Cecconi’s restaurant West Hollywood last night….Actually they entered separated. However, the gossip on the ground is that, they are knocking it hard together…
Drake hit up popular Las Vagas hot spot Tao to celebrate his 25th birthday over the weekend. Drake did what he does best and took to the mike for most of the night…must be a trip to be celebrating your birthday and raving to your own track…nice!
Drake rocked up to the club in a signature print Versace blue shirt and toasted the crowd by saying ‘he is up for whatever’
The next day, the Young Money artist tweeted, “Momma I feel so alive…I made it to 25. Thank you all.” Happy birthday, Drake!
Check out Nicki Minaj as she swaps her unusually eccentric OTT outfits for this 18th century style shoot with W Magazine. Nicki worked with an Italian artist to pull off the look. It’s just real refreshing to see Nicki looking refined and elegant.
Nicki also recently ‘hooked up’ her label mate Drake. The new track ‘Make Me Proud’ is taken from Drake’s recent album ‘Take Care’.
Young Money Records boss (owner) Lil Wayne covers October/November issue of VIBE Magazine. In the Magazine, Lil Wayne gave it to Drake (his employee) by saying Drake is his not his competitor but rather he is the BOSS…LOL
VIBE: You mentioned how humbled you were at the success of “She Will.” Drake, who wrote and performs the song’s chorus, has now become a platinum star in his own right. Do you look at the guy and say, “Wow, I helped create a monster, I have to stay on my toes”?
LIL WAYNE: I don’t look at it like that. Drake is my artist. If he wasn’t my artist, then yeah maybe. But that’s my artist. He’s not [just] a friend. We’re more than friends. It’s business. It would be impossible for it to be a competition. I mean, I’m the guy’s boss.
Oops, you get it folk, who competes with his Boss? The answer Lil Wayne is damn funny but so true
Whether or into that soulful rock sound or not, you can’t deny this track his hot. What’s not to like with Drake all over it. This track is the first track for the release of his up and coming album ‘Black and White’.
